Q.Does a Subaru have an immobilizer ?

A.Yes.

*Principal of Operation:

A transponder chip is integrated in each of the vehicle keys. A ring coil is fitted about the ignition lock. The transponder chip is powered by this coil. This means that no battery is necessary in the key. The power supply and data transfer take place in the same way as a transformer between the loop antenna (coil) at the ignition lock and the transponder chip.

Q.Does Subaru immobilizer requires programming ?

A.Yes.

Q.Can I program the key myself ?

A.No, but you can program the remote on some older Subarus that use a keyed ignition it will not start the car but will control the lock and unlock functions, you can try programming the remote yourself click HERE to watch a youtube video on how to.
