Everything you need know about Lincoln key replacement; Keyless Entry, Smart Keys (Proximity) and Programming.

Q.Does a Mercury have an immobilizer ?

A.Yes.

*Principal of Operation:

A transponder chip is integrated in each of the vehicle keys. A ring coil is fitted about the ignition lock. The transponder chip is powered by this coil. This means that no battery is necessary in the key. The power supply and data transfer take place in the same way as a transformer between the loop antenna (coil) at the ignition lock and the transponder chip.

Q.Does Mercury immobilizer requires programming ?

A.Yes.

Q.Can I program the key myself ?

A.Yes, but you need two working keys to program the third, you can find out how HERE

And you can also program the remote on some older fords that use a keyed ignition it will not start the car but will control the lock and unlock functions, you can try programming the remote yourself click HERE to watch a youtube video on how to.
