Each Acura key contains a small transponder chip. Around the ignition cylinder (or push-to-start system) is a ring antenna that powers the chip wirelessly and reads the code. If the code matches the vehicle’s system, the car will start.

No battery is needed in the chip for the car to recognize the key.
